    HTC Desire 601

To be launched in October 2013, the HTC Desire 601 is a new single SIM addition to HTC's Desire series. The Desire 601, unlike HTC's flagship 'One' series, is HTC's attempt to bring high-end specifications to a mid-range phone.

The Desire 601 seems to be a hybrid of the HTC One Mini and the Desire 600 Dual SIM, sporting looks close to that of the Desire 600, and the hardware and software base of the One Mini. The metal body of the HTC Desire series has been replaced with a polycarbonate shell with a back that has a very soft-touch finish with a pleasing curve to it which makes it incredibly comfortable to hold.

    OS and Processor

The HTC Desire 601 boasts a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked to 1.4Ghz with 1GB of RAMto support smooth running of processes and multi-tasking. The phone ships with Android Jelly Bean v4.2.2 and has the latest HTC Sense 5 User Interface.

    Hardware

The Desire 601 has a 4.5 inch qHD screen with a resolution of 960x540. It weighs about the same as the HTC One Mini at 130g and is 9.88mm thick. It has a non-removable 2100mAh battery which is a bump up from the Mini One's 1800 mAh battery.

    Camera and Memory

The Desire 601 sports a now-normal 5-megapixel rear-camera, deviating from the 4-megapixel "Ultrapixel" unit found on the HTC Desire One and One Mini. The camera on the Desire 601 gives the users an increased megapixel count, but it is likely that it will have reduced low-light performance due to the lack of the "Ultrapixel" unit. Unlike the One series, the Desire 601 only has a VGA front camera owing to the Desire 601 being a mid-range phone. Memory-wise, the HTC Desire 601 has an 8GB internal memory with a microSD card slot, expandable upto 64GB.

    Media and Connectivity

The HTC Desire 601 will be the first phone in the 'Desire' series to ship with LTE support enabling high speed internet access. The phone has a 3.5mm stereo audio jack. The Desire 601 features many of HTC's latest media provisions like the BlinkFeed home screen experience and the HTC gallery application with Zoes and automatic video highlights. Connectivity-wise, the Desire 601 has Bluetooth 4.0 with aptx enabled, Wi-FiDLNA for wirelessly streaming media from the phone to a compatible TV or computer, and HTC Connect.
