Datsun GO

Datsun GO Pictures

Mileage

Ed's Take: Nissan has worked on the fuel efficiency of the Datsun Go and it has a better figure than that of the Micra, as it lighter and even the engine has been detuned a bit.
As of now, there are no official figures regarding the mileage and fuel economy of the upcoming Datsun GO. However, as it coming with the 1.2-litre petrol trim manufactured by Nissan , we can expect that Datsun GO may come with an ability to return a healthy mileage in the range of about 19 Kmpl to 20 Kmpl. This upcoming hatch is expected to come with a lightweight body, which should further improve its fuel efficiency. The company is also expected to equip this hatchback with a proficient fuel supply system, which will also help in further boosting the fuel efficiency of this yet to be launched hatchback.

Acceleration & Pick-Up

Ed's Take: The acceleration should be competitive to competition and the Datsun Go could have similar acceleration to the Micra petrol version.
The company is said to have promised that its first ever model for this 21st Century, Datsun GO will deliver exceptional driving experience with greater agility. The company has still not disclosed the figures regarding its top speed, acceleration and pickup. However, some of the top market sources believe that this hatchback might have the ability to reach its top speed in between 150 to 160 Kmph speed. Considering the engine size, its power and its light weight body, we can expect that the Datsun GO may reach a speed of 100 Kmph from standstill in about 15 to 16 seconds , which should be great for the Indian road and traffic conditions.

Engine and Performance

Ed's Take: The engine on the Datsun Go is the same 1.2-litre petrol, but due to lesser weight the fuel efficiency of  Datsun Go is higher than that on the regular Micra.
This yet to be launched Datsun GO seems to have been liked by the technical junkies of the country, who scrutinize each and every aspect of any upcoming cars and give their verdict on them. This low cost hatchback is expected to be madeavailable with a performance packed three cylinder, 12-valve based 1.2-litre petrol engine , which is also expected to have a dual overhead cam shaft (DOHC) to further bolster the pickup, acceleration as well as the fuel economy. However, this petrol engine is said to be slightly lesser powerful than its other contenders, which may not be a concern for the buyers as this would mean that the mileage will be better than the other similar engines. This wonderful petrol mill is said to be able to displace close to 1198cc, which seems to be pretty decent for the Indian road and traffic conditions. This efficient petrol mill is expected to generate about 67bhp of maximum power at 5000rpm, while the peak torque output is said to be in the range of about 104Nm at 4000rpm. This impressive engine is expected to be skilfully mated with a proficient five speed manual transmission gear box, which ensures smoother gear shifts at all times. The most impressive thing about this yet to be launched hatchback is said to be its class leading mileage, which will certainly impress the buyers.

2014 Jeep Cherokee

No one cares if a Toyota RAV4 or Ford Escape can cross the Rubicon. In fact, most Ford and Toyota crossover owners wouldn't know the difference between the Rubicon and a Rubik's Cube. Jeeps, however, are judged off-road. Create a vehicle that can't survive Hell's Gate in Moab, Utah, and it's a Jeep In Name Only. JINO is blasphemy in the Church of 4x4 -- just look at the persecution of the Compass

This is a tough standard, but the second coming of the Cherokee might sway more than a few true believers who bemoan the Fiat platform under any Jeep as a betrayal of epic proportion and a disservice to the Cherokee name. But, lo and behold, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee will impress even the hardest-core enthusiast with its capabilities. More important, it advances the Jeep cause with an ingenious drive system, a polarizing design, and a well-appointed interior. It looks like no other and behaves like no other, but it is still a Jeep all the way through its Italian platform. And allow me this confession: Jeep fanatics were never going to buy the Cherokee anyway. This small crossover was created for the next generation of Jeep buyers who have quiet commutes, take an occasional dusty road, and want something that looks cool parked in a suburban driveway. The Cherokee can compete head to head with any of the modern small crossovers on the road. Off-road, it will bury them.

From the 4x4 Cherokee Trailhawk for the owner who once rebuilt a CJ's engine with a Leatherman, to a front-drive Cherokee Sport for the owner who occasionally hops a curb to get a better parking space, Jeep serves up a range of Cherokee flavors. While many crossovers have adopted the wrinkled tube look, the Cherokee maintains a truck-first silhouette. It keeps some of those classic Jeep design cues, but with a more modern twist. The grille still has seven slots, and trapezoidal wheelwells surround the 17-inch wheels, but there are also daytime running lights tucked under the sharply curved hood that give the Cherokee a distinctive look. (The real headlamps are lower.) The trail-rated Trailhawk has a tougher look with different fascias, red steel tow hooks, and Trailhawk badging. The Cherokee's interior has more in common with the Grand Cherokee than the Liberty the Cherokee replaces. It's comfortable, well-laid-out, and uses a combination of choice materials that make it feel more like a luxury car than a vehicle that can turn a mountain into a mustard seed. There are soft-touch points and the cabin's layout is driver-friendly. Two analog gauges bookend either a 3.5-inch or 7-inch thin-film transistor screen that offers a half-dozen different configurations for real-time information.
